How it works. Your home country taxes are your salary multiplied by your salary tax rate plus your investment income multiplied by your investment tax rate. Dubai has no personal income tax and no tax on investment returns for individuals. Each year’s benefit is invested at the end of the year and compounds tax-free at the return you choose.
Employer costs. Employers usually pay pension and social contributions on top of your gross salary. If you do the same work from Dubai as a contractor, you can invoice this amount too, because the client’s total cost stays the same. The calculator assumes you operate through a Dubai free zone company with 0% corporate tax, which requires the company to meet the free zone conditions for qualifying income.
Existing investments. The tax saved on existing investments is the tax you would pay at home on the gain if you sold the portfolio at the end of the period. Social security contributions at home often build pension rights that you will not earn in Dubai.
Important. This calculator gives an estimate and is not tax advice. Many countries keep taxing you for some time after you move, apply exit taxes on unrealised gains, or tax citizens wherever they live (for example the United States). Tax treaties also affect where you pay tax. Get advice on your own situation before you move.
